APLE Collective have been working alongside the APPG on Poverty since 2021. We hosted an APPG event for International Day to End Poverty in October 2022 and developed a partnership where lived experience voices can be heard. This partnership has involved working with the APPG, sharing knowledge at APPG hosted events and hosting an APLE Collective event annually.

“Last year the APPG on Poverty discussed with the APLE Collective how we might work together so as to amplify the voices of lived experience. We agreed that we should focus in particular on the annual UN International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. This led to a meeting in the week of the International Day, which was led by members of the APLE Collective. The focus of the meeting, as chosen by APLE, was the impact of the digital divide. We received a general APLE briefing on the issue followed by a number of contributions from different aspects of lived experience covering transport, education, children and refugees and asylum seekers. Other issues raised included access to primary health care services and the cost of devices and data packages. We learned a lot from the meeting and the minutes were shared with other APPG officers who weren’t able to attend.”
